Fossil Dinosaur Egg #B Hadrosaur Nest
This legally imported genuine Fossil Dinosaur Egg Nest is thought to be from a Hadrosaur which was the family of duck-billed, herbivorous Dinosaurs. This Hadrosaur Dinosaur Egg NEST of TWO EGGS measures approx. 10 1/2" long by 7" wide and 4 3/4" deep. Each egg is approx. 4 1/2" across. Hadrosaurs date back to the Cretaceous Period (65-84 million yrs). The eggs are found with greatest frequency in Shandong, Henan, and Guangdong Provinces of China. The word Hadrosaur means "Bulky Lizard". It was thought to have a large brain, a wide and flat snout. Hadrosaur was a bipedal dinosaur with strong large hind legs with short but strong front legs with hoof-like claws and may have walked on all four legs while grazing. Their rapidly replaced teeth suggest that Hadrosaurs fed on tough terrestrial plants. They ranged in size from 10 to 40 feet long with most Hadrosaurs measuring about 23 to 30 feet long. The Hadrosaur dinosaur had a muscular tail that may have helped with balance or served as a swimming paddle. They most likely spent most of their time on land, though close to bodies of water, and migrating to high ground to lay eggs. This was a highly social dinosaur and nested communally.
